How to add fractions with the same denominator
A fraction is composed of a numerator (top number) and a denominator (bottom number). Adding fractions with the same denominator is quite simple.
Add the numerators of the fractions together.
Keep the denominator the same.
Simplify the fraction answer if necessary, by reducing the numerator and denominator to their lowest terms.
Example 1: 3/8 + 2/8
3/8 + 2/8 = 5/8
Example 2: 4/10 + 3/10
4/10 + 3/10 = 7/10
Example 3: 2/8 + 2/8
2/8 + 2/8 = 4/8 = 1/2
